Molly's is an old barn turned into a retail store!
Vintage inspired, home décor, clothing and so much more.
It all started with my love for interior design. When I went shopping for my own home décor I couldn’t find the primitive style I wanted. I quickly realized I was going to have to make what I was out searching for. I started creating my own stuff for my home which transitioned into creating for consignment craft shows when my children were young which evolved into me opening the Molly’s she shed in 1998. My love for crafting and offering home décor just exploded so I opened the barn in 2005 and here we are now!
I created the Molly’s she shed in mid September of 1998 as a more permanent shopping location for those looking for the same type of items I had been searching for. This barn were in now is over 100 years old built in 1914. The crew that built my home slept upstairs in this barn while they building the house. It was important to me that I kept as much of the original barn as possible. The downstairs clothing area’s were the old horse stalls. The wood is all original barn wood that we refinished.
I had no expectations of what I wanted Molly’s to turn into. I feel blessed to be able to wake up and do love everyday. My husband has played a big role in the success of Molly’s and said “if this fails, that is ok we can repurpose the barn for our next adventure”. I feel like Molly’s found me and that makes me feel very fortunate.
Everyday is different, it is never the same twice. I love to decorate so having Molly’s is me in my element. The clothing part is new to me. My daughter turned me onto it because of her love for design. That has been a great way for us to connect and grow together sharing in something we both love. I love that my customers that stop in become family. I have been able to watch generations grow up and that is what keeps the fire inside me burning. Molly’s is a place that has turned into a gathering place for birthday’s and girls nights. Real therapy that actually pays for not only me but the customers as well.
I want Audubon and the surrounding communities to thrive. When the community is doing well it flows over into my business and all the other businesses as well. We have such an amazing community and with me being located in the middle of everywhere I have regular customers that come and see me from all around. Seeing these families and businesses doing so well is all I could ask for.
People that come from DSM say “Molly’s has way better quality without breaking the bank”. “We can’t compare the quality to the prices of other places.”
Many express how relaxing Molly’s is to shop
The Audubon Recreation Center is a non-profit organization founded by the Audubon Recreation Foundation. Before opening their doors they wanted to offer as much as possible to Audubon and the surrounding communities.
The Audubon Recreation Center offers basketball, a batting cage for baseball and softball players, a walking track, a racquetball court that can interchange between racquetball, pickleball, and wallyball.
They also have a 150 person community room ready for your next big event including a microphone system and a laser projector with a 15ft screen!
Finally, the Audubon Recreation Center offers an eight lane state of the art bowling center with a restaurant and full bar. The bowling system allows bowlers to play a regular game of bowling or try a mini game! The center also has an arcade and soft play area for children and the young at heart!
The rec center was opened in Nov of 2018, and Daniel took over as manager in Oct of 2019. Him and his wife had many conversations about his work week in retail management where he was working 75+ hours a week, they were looking forward to building a team and a board that had the mentality of “family first.” Together they have built a great family atmosphere all around including their customers.
I was in retail management for a long time and found that management was very rewarding so when I had the opportunity to do it again I jumped on it. One side of management many don’t get to see is the development of young employees and how much they grow. Daniel says "I love getting to know them in more then a professional setting and seeing them grow in life in general." I am a firm believer in what makes a business successful is the people behind the scenes that work in the establishment. The employees also have an impact on each other, including myself in management, I learn from them just as much as they learn from me. Daniel adds “I will never ask something of someone I would not do myself, and that has build a foundation amongst them that makes them more than just co workers."
No, it’s gone way beyond! Knowing that I am able to build on and bring my ideas to life when I took over is mind blowing. The amount of support from the community is absolutely astounding. I cant put into words how it has succeeded all my expectations, not just the staff but the customers as well.
What I have really enjoyed the most is seeing how creative the young minds are, when you give them room to think on their own they come up with such amazing off the wall ideas that maybe I wouldn’t have thought of. We feed off of each other and that is what builds such a strong and thriving environment for us all. We are a family and we treat each other as such.
Add members and build the community. I want our members to have a place to go for everything they are looking for and to help the community to reach their own goals in recreation. The gym plays a big part in that goal.
They love the food and the surprise of changes in the menu. They love that they can go to an family friendly priced atmosphere that has so much to offer.
There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about "Esthetics by Shannon Freimuth"
I grew up surrounded in the world of beauty, going to salons sitting and watching woman provide beauty services sucked me in at a young age. I have had skin issues since I was 2 months old, being a young child who was teased so horribly that I developed low self esteem made me think “there had to be others that were feeling the same”. I wanted to be able to help others feel confident in their own skin and provide a way for them to relax from the stress of the day. Being able to provide that is what I know I was meant to offer.
I have been an esthetician for 13 years which inspired me to open Esthetics by Shannon in August of 2019 in Washington, the same week my son was born! In July last year I relocated my business here to Audubon.
Being new to the Audubon area, I want to reach more people. I feel like the more people I am able to help the better quality of life our community will have when each individual is able to reach their beauty goals, and that goes for both woman as well as men. The clients I do see end up coming to me so regularly that they become like family. That instills in me that I am doing good things for our community.
I want to meet as many new people as I can and build community by helping as many people as I can.
It’s a toss up between doing facials and make up. I’ve learned so much about what it takes to have the skin we all desire so being able to share that with my clients who have such a wide range of skin types keeps my knowledge constantly growing. I enjoy being able to help woman feel beautiful and learn the best application that fits them. My passionate in this field runs deep, so much so that I spend my free time doing research so I can better serve my clients.
